This was the last ever match played before the merger of the three Aberdeen based clubs, Aberdeen F.C., Orion F.C. and Victoria United F.C. to form the now current
Aberdeen Football Club Ltd.
The Lord Provost Sir John Fleming Charity Shield, was held between 1899 to 1929, Aberdeen won 12 times and Aberdeen 'A' won twice. Their was 18 Finals completed, 10 years with no competition between 1914-19, 1923-28 and 1 year 1899-00 was unfinished.
